Cabin Fever Blues Buster - Lunch and a Movie or Mall Shopping in Grand Junction

We will travel to Grand Junction for lunch at the restaurant of your choice located near the mall (Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Famous Dave's etc.) and then we will see a matinee or shop in the mall, your choice!  Movie options are not available at this time.

Dunton Hot Springs - Lunch and Soak (Located near Dolores)
Dunton is a perfectly restored 1800's ghost town that has been converted into a luxury resort.  The original bar in the saloon has Butch Cassidy's carvings in it.  We will soak in the hot springs and then enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by the on-site chef.  Both alcoholic & non-alcoholic beverages are included with lunch.  We have access to hiking trails and the library.  Don't miss the opportunity to experience this luxury resort.  Find out more at www.duntonhotsprings.com

Sheep Camp Stock Dog Trails - Hotchkiss


Come witness one of the greatest and most dynamic partnerships in the animal kingdom:  a dog, its handler and their sheep.  With just a few well timed whistles from its trusted handler the dog strategically approaches the flock, assumes control of the sheep and completes the assigned task.  Note that while these dogs are trained, the sheep are not!  There are vendors on site and a large number of yard sales in town this weekend as well.

Morrow Point Dam Tour


Morrow Point Dam is a 468-foot-tall concrete double-arch dam on the Gunnison River the first dam of its type built by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.  We will take a guided tour of the plant (requires taking a number of stairs - no elevator).  After the plant tour, we will take our vehicle to look at the top of the dam.  You must wear close toed shoes - no sandals or flip flops.  After we returned to Montrose, we will go out to lunch.  This is optional.

Pauline S. Schneegas Wildlife Foundation (PSSWF) - Silt, CO


The mission of the PSSWF is to "provide quality, professional care to injured and orphaned wildlife in conjunction with educational programs on wildlife and the environment".  We will tour the facility which includes a rehab area, classroom and homestead museum.  We wil get to meet the resident educational animals:  Wolf hybrids, bobcats, fox, raptors, rabbits, ferrets, domestic birds and reptiles.  Time permitting, we will head to Rifle Falls State Park to view the falls on the return home.

Rocky Mountain Biological Lab - Gothic (located just outside Crested Butte)


Join us for a science and history tour as we walk around the Gothic town site with our guide.  We will learn about the history of the area and get an overview of the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory and the research that is conducted each summer.  Following the tour we will have lunch in Crested Butte.
