Gabe Baca FH and staff bio

Gabe Baca

Field House Facility Leader

Gabriel was born and raised in Denver, CO. He graduated from George Washington H.S then Colorado College. He tried the east coast for 7 years but missed the Rocky Mountains as well as the Colorado lifestyle.  So he came back to Denver in 2011 to pursue an interest in the medical field. That’s where and when he first really encountered the Western Slope. He moved to Montrose in 2017 just in time for the opening new CRC facility and was the rec’s first facility attendant.

He enjoys all things outdoors except traffic and bad drivers. He’s most likely spotted on a disc golf course, upstairs in the fitness area, or stretching near the climbing wall (that is when he’s not posted up near the front doors keeping an eye on the rec center). Over the last 3 years he’s gotten back into rock climbing, yoga, mountain biking, and hiking. He can’t wait to explore more of the area in the years to come. He is now the Facility Leader at the Field House.

Amy Russell

Lead CSR

Amy grew up in the Inland Empire area of California and attended Cal Poly Pomona. She gladly left California and moved to Colorado’s Western Slope more than 20 years ago and has never looked back. Work took Amy to the Denver area where she was a Business Development leader and trainer for Bonfils Blood Center for 17 years where her passion for helping others was utilized. The call of the western half of Colorado was always in her heart, however, so she and her husband, Doug, moved back a year ago to enjoy everything that this wonderful area has to offer. Amy began working as a Lead CSR for Montrose Recreation District in April and still enjoys helping people every day she is at work.  While at the Rec Center you’ll find her at the front desk where the regulars refer to her as Smiley. When not working you’ll find her hiking, whitewater rafting, fly fishing, cooking, reading or playing with her dogs. Stop by and say hi!
